Third Culture Bakery - Berkeley, CA

It's Monday morning...yay. I woke up to no Internet and was not able to work, but what did I do instead? Get my iced coffee fix!

There has been this new bakery that Miguel brought up one time, but whenever we decided to try it out, they'd already be closed for the day. Since he didn't start work until 2 P.M, we decided to take a quick morning drive to Third Culture Bakery, Home of the Mochi Muffin. They're in Berkeley and their hours are VERY limited, so keep in mind their schedule: EVERYDAY OPEN FROM 9 A.M. TO 4 P.M.

I got the Caramel Iced Cold Brew Latte. It was about $4. Starting with the top left donut, we got the strawberry, top right is the passion fruit, middle left is the Vietnamese coffee, then dark chocolate on the right right. lastly below, is their traditional mochi muffin.

Parking was not too bad. You'd be lucky to get a parking spot in front, but if not, you may just need to walk about a block or two. The exterior of the bakery has a very industrial feel to it. You walk up and there's a cute, little, pink, sign before entering.

Once you walk in, it's almost like you're walking into a candy store. There's so much color everywhere and we just found it to be such a cute bakery! From the pastries, to tea leaves, candy, and merchandise. There were tons of options!

We approached the counter and I immediately told the cashier that it was our first time there. He was very excited to tell us all about their pastries. To the left of the counter, you will see the famous mochi donuts and muffins. Their butter-mochi style donuts are baked, not fried, which makes the texture light, dense, and chewy.

Besides the donuts, they have different flavored muffins, but the one that started it all was the Mochi Muffin. It's made out of California-grown mochiko rice flour, organic French-style butter, and their own in house blend of pandan and coconut milk. Lastly, they top it off with Japanese sesame seeds. It has become Third Culture's registered trademark! All in all, it was a great experience! The Third Culture team really make you feel comfortable and are always open to suggesting their favorites!
