If you're a fan of fried chicken sandwiches, World Famous HOTBOYS should definitely be on your list of places to try. Located in Downtown Oakland, the restaurant is on a corner, with an exterior that gives me an early 2000s, diner, street, vibe. They are doing online pre-orders, so I recommend ordering about 45 - 60 minutes before arriving. The staff enforces social distancing upon pickup with the whole team wearing masks.
I was able to try this place out during COVID, meaning that the streets were empty with everyone working from home. I could only imagine getting a hold of these bad boys during rush hours, pre-COVID.
Not only do they sell their sandos, but they have wings and tenders. Their spice level begins at Southern (no spice), to HOT (painfully spicy.) Their sandos are thick and meaty, but it can get messy with the topped slaw. I usually go for the Mild Spicy Sando with a side of fries or mac and cheese, sometimes both.
Man, everything from here is just SO GOOD. Can't compare Popeyes or Wendy's to this.
